2026 Photonics North Awards Announcement

Photonics North 2026 is pleased to announce the following awards recognizing excellence in student presentations and postdoctoral research. We invite nominations and applications as outlined below.

 

2026 PHOTONICS NORTH STUDENT BEST PAPER PRESENTATION AWARDS


Best Oral Presentation Awards

First Place – $300
Second Place – $200
Third Place – $100


Best Poster Presentation Awards

Two awards – $100 each


Competition Procedure

· Each track chair will submit (with ranking):

o Two (2) ranked candidates for the Student Best Presentation Award

o Two (2) ranked candidates for the Student Best Poster Award

· The program co-chairs will shortlist 4–5 candidates for the Student Best Presentation Award. On the first day of the conference, each shortlisted candidate will deliver a short presentation followed by a Q&A session.

· The program chairs will evaluate candidates during the poster session through direct discussion.

· Winners in both categories will be announced at the conference.

 

2026 PHOTONICS NORTH POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH AWARD

This award recognizes outstanding research achievements and scientific contributions by postdoctoral researchers in photonics and related fields. The selected awardee will receive (1) a $300 prize and (2) an invitation to submit a manuscript to the Photonics North Feature Issue in JOSA B.


Eligibility

· Currently hold a postdoctoral position (proof of employment required)

· Be presenting at Photonics North 2026 (confirmation of abstract submission required)


Required application materials (compiled in a single PDF file):

· Curriculum Vitae

· Five (5) representative publications

· One-page summary of scientific accomplishments

· Letter confirming postdoctoral employment

· Proof of abstract submission to PN 2026


Selection Procedure

· Applications must be submitted online by May 1, 2026, 16h00 (Eastern Standard Time).

· The committee, composed of the program co-chairs, will select five (5) finalists.

· On the first day of the conference, each shortlisted candidate will deliver a short presentation followed by a Q&A session.

· The award recipient will be announced at the conference.
