Zachary Vernon is the Head of Hardware at Xanadu, where he has built out a world leading quantum photonics R&D facility and quantum hardware team. He owns the vision for the development of Xanadu’s photonic hardware and the roadmap towards universal, fault-tolerant, quantum computers. Zachary holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Toronto and specializes in integrated photonic technologies for generation, control, and measurement of quantum light.

Abstract: Xanadu is a Canadian company, founded in Toronto in 2016, with a mission to make quantum computers useful and available to people everywhere. Nature recently published a description of our Aurora photonic quantum computer, which is the first demonstration of an all-optical, modular and networkable quantum computing architecture. Dr. Vernon will present the details of the Aurora machine, and also share more recent results made by the Xanadu team to improve individual component performance within the system, and architectural innovations. He will also share an overview of Xanadu's in-house capabilities for cutting-edge photonic packaging, test and integration.
